Meeting in Madrid to examine applications to host third world olive collection

Experts met at the IOC Madrid headquarters last 17 of June to examine the documentation submitted by five countries – Egypt, Jordan, Iran, Syria and Turkey – to host the third international collection of olive varieties.
The object was to check that the dossiers presented by the candidates complied with the criteria defined in the call for proposals issued by the IOC and to identify any additional information that might have to be supplied.
The next stage will be for the experts to visit the five candidate countries to inspect the worth of the proposals on the ground. These inspections are planned for September and October 2011
